Arnold Weatherman

Davie Soil and Water Conservation District, North Carolina

Arnold Weatherman from North Carolina serves on the Davie Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Arnold is excited to be a cohort member in 2026. He hopes to sharpen his public speaking skills while also meeting new people and learning new ideas to take back to his district. The Davie Soil and Water Conservation District is a county with diverse row-crop farming. His district has adapted over the years to better conservation practices, like no-till farming and litter management.

His time in conservation began at a very young age. Arnold is a third-generation on his family farm, and has worked with the soil and water conservation office for his entire life. He understands the importance of preserving farmland for future generations. He is extremely passionate about preserving the land used for agricultural purposes. “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I’m also proud of what we’ve been able to maintain,” he shares.

Arnold is most proud of the progress on his family's farm. Since 1935, his family has grown tobacco and raised poultry and beef cattle. He hopes to pass the operation down to the next generation soon.

When Arnold is not working on the farm, he is attending church at the Liberty Baptist Church or serving on county boards, driving innovation within his community.
