Bidding for the Future: Over $120K Raised for Conservation Education in San Antonio
Hundreds gathered to support Envirothon and NGLI—NCF’s flagship leadership programs.
As several hundred conservation leaders gathered in San Antonio last month for the NACD Annual Meeting, the National Conservation Foundation was excited to host its annual live auction. Held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the fundraising event brought together leaders, partners, and supporters from across the country. Thanks to the enthusiastic bidders, the auction raised $120,875 for the two main NCF programs, Envirothon and the Next Generation Leadership Institute. These programs foster leadership development and hands-on learning for conservationists nationwide.
“Every bid is an investment in the next generation of conservation leaders. When you support NCF, you’re helping young people gain the skills, confidence, and real-world experience they need through Envirothon and NGLI. And you’re strengthening conservation in communities across the country,” said Brent Van Dyke, NCF Board of Trustees Chair.
The auction was made possible by donations from over 50 supporters from the conservation community. Attendees had the chance to bid on everything from a handmade Mississippi oak wooden bowl to memorable experiences like a two-day duck hunt for two with NACD Past President Michael Crowder, a Traeger Pro 22 wood pellet grill and smoker combo, and even 240 rental hours of a Case IH Magnum 265 tractor. The NCF auction truly has something for everyone.
Keith Owen, Director of Education for NACD, expressed his appreciation for the auction participants. “This year’s auction was a success thanks to all of the generous donors and buyers who participated. Our annual auction is one of the main sources of funding for our programs and ensures the continuation of conservation education,” said Owen.
