Creek County Conservation District, Oklahoma
Carmen Bruner-Still is from Bristow, Oklahoma, and is a board member of the Creek County Soil and Water Conservation District. She has been involved with the board for two years. Carmen was drawn to work in conservation and serving on her local board and is now participating in NGLI because of the time she spent raising chickens, cows, pigs, and a dairy cow and goat on her family's farm. Carmen feels like she has always been a conservationist, but now she can be a more involved advocate for conservation in her community.
Carmen joined the 2025 NGLI cohort to meet with people from different parts of the U.S. and learn about conservation in their district and state. She also looks forward to becoming more acquainted with conservation procedures and policies and returning to her district with new knowledge to help them lead and grow.
When Carmen is not dedicating her time to the Creek County SWCD and NGLI, you can find her advocating for mental health, cooking, singing jazz, and spending time with her kids and family. A fun fact about Carmen is that in 2020, she released her jazz EP, “Carmen Bruner.”
The NGLI curriculum has equipped these leaders with skills and resources for personal, civic and organizational leadership development. View Cohorts from 2020 to 2026.
