NCF set a goal of raising $50,000 by the end of 2021.
In recent years, NCF has strengthened its organizational identity and purpose by increasing program support, refocusing our mission and vision statements, developing a strategic plan, launching a new logo and website and introducing a new cornerstone program with the Next Generation Leadership Institute (NGLI).
With past support, NCF was able to create and implement the NGLI, welcoming its seven inaugural cohort members in February 2020 and is recruiting members for its second cohort, scheduled to be announced in December 2021. This program and its curriculum will help grow the next generation of conservation leaders and equip them with skills and resources related to personal, civic and organizational leadership development.
Through your support, NCF has continued to run its Envirothon program, an international environmental and natural resource problem-solving competition that builds leadership experience for high school students. NCF-Envirothon’s mission is to develop knowledgeable, skilled and dedicated citizens who have an understanding of natural resources and are willing and prepared to work towards achieving and maintaining a balance between the quality of life and the quality of the environment.
Despite challenges from COVID-19, this year’s Envirothon was a success on a virtual platform, hosted by the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts. The 2022 competition will be hosted by the Ohio Federation of Soil Conservation Districts in Oxford, Ohio.
