Guilford County Soil and Water Conservation District, North Carolina
Josh Myers, of Greensboro, North Carolina, is the current vice chair of the Guilford County Soil and Water Conservation District. He is very involved in the Guilford community, serving as a member and leader of various state and local organizations. Before moving back to Greensboro and becoming involved with local conservation efforts, Josh was a lobbyist in D.C. He began to notice overdevelopment and water contamination within his community and decided to run for his local SWCD to help find solutions.
Josh decided to get involved with NGLI after having some conversations with previous NGLI cohort members from North Carolina and encouragement from former NCF-Envirothon chair Millie Langley. While serving as a member of the 2025 cohort, Josh looks forward to sharpening his tools and learning from his fellow participants, growing as an individual, and taking some new ideas back home to his district.
Outside conservation, Josh and his family are “chaotic and always going a hundred miles an hour.” Both Josh and his wife travel for work, and they often take their children along, having decided to “gift” them with experiences and opportunities to grow, learn, and see parts of the country and world they have never seen before. When he isn't working or traveling, Josh can be found outdoors hunting and farming.
Josh greatly values honesty, integrity, respect, hard work, and accountability. He feels that diversity is the cornerstone of all success and is a key to his approach to leadership. He says we will never be able to go far if we surround ourselves with people who think the same as us.
The NGLI curriculum has equipped these leaders with skills and resources for personal, civic and organizational leadership development. View Cohorts from 2020 to 2026.
