Little Colorado River Soil and Water Conservation District, Arizona
Sadie Lister is from Indian Wells, Arizona. She has been the chair of the Little Colorado River Soil and Water Conservation District and its coordinator for 14 years. Sadie’s involvement in conservation began in 2007 when attending a grazing meeting with her parents, who transferred their grazing permit to her. In December 2010, she became a member of Little Colorado SWCD after learning about the district during another community meeting and some of the projects they were working on when she took over the permit.
Sadie is most excited for her term as an NGLI cohort because it will grant her the opportunity to meet and work with individuals from across the country and learn what conservation is like for them, how they serve their district, and how their district serves their community. Sadie hopes to return some of the knowledge she has gained from her fellow cohort members and apply it to her district and her farm. Back home, Sadie is working on implementing a drip system into a small plot of her land to grow crops.
The NGLI curriculum has equipped these leaders with skills and resources for personal, civic and organizational leadership development. View Cohorts from 2020 to 2026.
