Travis Entenman

Minnehaha Conservation District, South Dakota

Travis Entenman, a conservation district board supervisor at the Minnehaha Conservation District in South Dakota, is passionate about conservation and leads two nonprofit organizations. Northern Prairie’s Land Trust and Friends of the Big Sioux River organizations put their efforts into educating and advocating for water conservation and conservation easements on large-scale land.

Travis’s passion and time in conservation are all for the future generations. He wants to provide the same opportunity for his kids and to be good stewards of the land. Travis shared, “My wife and I talk about being good stewards and providing the same opportunities we had for our kids.”

As a cohort member, Travis hopes this opportunity will help him connect the message about where food comes from to urban areas. He also looks to learn from other states and communities’ challenges and advice to take back to his conservation district. The Minnehaha district focuses on helping landowners implement trees, cover crops, and seed-and-drill practices. Travis enjoys his time working in the district with the helpful staff and landowners.

When Travis is not working in conservation, he is involved in his community and family. He also serves on the committee for the South Dakota Grasslands Initiative and other local organizations.
